Open Call: Technology


The Toe Rag invites contributions for our forthcoming Spring 2025 issue on the theme: TECHNOLOGY.


Shiny and new, metallic and everywhere, technology has become the flesh of the everyday. It has enabled progress, prosperity and comfort, but has also estranged us from one another and our surroundings: the relationship between nature, human and machine is increasingly in question. The Toe Rag seeks work that reflects on technology’s place in the material and social world.

To submit to our open call, please send proposals of maximum 300 words to hello@thetoerag.com, along with a short bio and a writing sample. In your proposal, please clearly indicate structure, content and intended word count. For arts reviews, please send an expression of interest with a short bio and writing sample.

We welcome contributions that are formally ambitious, considered and incisive, and are open to non-fiction, fiction, poetry and texts that fall in-between. We recommend that you read work published in the magazine before submitting. Due to the volume of proposals we receive, we are only able to respond to successful submissions.
